Spiritual Study Series: Session #2 More Miracles
It's not easy to 'Let Go And Let God'. For people who like to be in control, to conquer, to master, to prepare for what might come - letting go takes a lot of doing.
On the first page of A Course in Miracles, we are told that "...miracles mean life, and God is the giver of life. His voice will direct you very specifically. You will be told all you need to know".(#4)
That means that we don't have to try to control, or conquer or master or even prepare. God - however you choose to understand that power - will tell us everything we need to know.
It's true! We are given what we need, but what we actually need is a whole lot less than what we think we need!
God speaks to us through our intuition - our heart. Have you ever had a gut feeling that you needed to call someone or go somewhere? Maybe you were struggling with a life problem and out of nowhere, the answer came to you?
Many years ago, I became very ill. I was so ill that I was trapped in a fear state and no matter what I did, I couldn't generate any positive feelings. I was trying to figure out what was wrong with me, when I suddenly remembered an article I had read several years before. It was a miracle! I didn't recall the details, but I did recall enough to be able to go to the library and find more information on it. Eventually, through many weeks of study, I was able to get my body healthy enough to be ready for a major surgery. I honestly believe that I was told what I needed to know by God - The Universe - The Divine Matrix - The Field - The Holy Spirit - whatever you want to name that intelligence - I was told what I needed to know and that information literally saved my life.
Getting the information you need is only one part of the equation! First, you must be willing to receive the information. Once you have the information, it's up to you to act on it. In other words, God will show us the way, but it's up to us to go down that road; to see where that road leads and to grasp hold of the treasures we find on that road. The guidance to where I needed to be was part of the answer. I had to study, to learn what the information meant, and then apply what I learned to my personal situation. Had I not gone down the road - in this case literally to the library and taken out all the books I needed, then applied that information to my physiological situation, I wouldn't be here writing this. If I dismissed the information that was in those books as pseudo-science - I wouldn't be here writing this. If I would have looked for approval from someone outside of myself before applying what I learned, I wouldn't be here writing this. I had to trust that God directed me to information that He knew I could understand. I had to have faith that my instinct - my intuition was in fact Divine Guidance. The Universe does give us everything we need. God will direct us. That's where trust and faith come in.
#7 'Miracles are everyone's right, but purification is necessary first'.
When you read the previous sentence, what was the first thing that popped into your mind? Lots of words are triggers and purification is a common one because for many people, it implies that something is wrong with you; that you are 'unclean' or 'impure'. If your reaction to that sentence was defensive, or if your mind's process quickly dismissed it, it is likely that you received a lot of criticism as a child. The Mind File that was referenced came out of your FEAR cabinet, and contained conclusions that said:
You aren't good enough
You can't do anything right
You're never going to amount to anything
It's all your fault!
The feelings attached to those statements become the filters through which your mind's process sends and receives information. Every single time you heard that you didn't measure up, your mind's process referenced that Mind File and added another filter. Eventually, this becomes an intellectual and emotional block. Words like 'purification' can trigger that block and when you are triggered, your mind's process immediately closes the door to the present context. You become defiant.
How you react to things isn't just about your subconscious thought and behavior patterns - there is a biochemical process happening in your brain that contributes to the trigger and your reaction to it. We'll get to all of that in another post.
For decades, scientists have been researching and studying emotional trauma, and what they've learned is slowly getting out into the public. But, like all things, this is both good and bad because some people are receiving the information through a negative filter that hasn't been reSOLVED, and they're passing on the contaminated information to others. That's why purification is necessary first.
It doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you. It is a statement explaining to you that your mind's process is referencing out of date information. The data is contaminated - not you!
Remember, the mind's process will run with it's original programming until you consciously and intentionally re-program the reference points!
Purification, in this context, means to dig into your FEAR cabinet and reassess the files at your current level of understanding. Review - reassess - reSOLVE.
When you're ready to complete this task, you will be given everything you need to know. Miracles are guaranteed - for everyone.
The next point (#8) on the first page of A Course in Miracles says: Miracles are healing because they supply a lack; they are performed by those who temporarily have more for those who temporarily have less.
When you've been criticized more than praised, it's normal to be defensive with people you see as 'know-it-all's' or even authority figures who are trying to teach you something. Miracles are explanations that can find their way to you through multiple paths: a book, a TV show, a movie, and even a random stranger you strike up a conversation with on your daily walk, as well as answers just popping into your mind. If your defenses are up, the message can't get in.
Once you start on the path of healing - everything you need will find it's way to you, so remind yourself to be open to receiving what comes your way. Be patient with yourself and don't try to rush through your healing.
In your journal, make a list of all the words that cause your mind's process to jump. These are your trigger words.
Once you have the words listed, try to recall the experience that caused the word to become a trigger. What happened? Who was there? What did they say that hurt you?
As you make your way through your FEAR cabinet, ask for Divine Guidance to help you understand what happened. Be patient! The answer may take a day, a week, or even a month to find it's way to you! Don't let this discourage you. Keep going through the list of trigger words. Sometimes, when you reSOLVE one Mind File, a bunch of others are reSOLVED right along with it!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you learned something here today that can help you help yourself!
See you next time!
